Office Administrator: Paula Gonzales
Mother, wife, grandmother, sister, friend . . . congregation
administrator. Working for Chalice Unitarian Universalist Congregation
is the natural summit I have been working toward all of my life. I am a
mother. My 31 yr. old son and his family live in the area. My 17 yr. old
daughter is a very busy high school student. She has participated at
Chalice as long as I have (12 years). I graduated from San Diego State
University in 1979 with a BS in Social Science, a liberal arts degree
with a little anthropology, economics, and a few units of psychology, and
humanities. Over the years, I have worked for a veterinary clinic, a
magazine, a custom home builder, an orthopedist, a family doctor, an
organic skin care manufacturer, and Chalice! Working here is the best
job I have ever known; it is wonderful because of the people, and the
work we do as a congregation.
My job is to do my best to keep track of things: who is contributing to
the service, the calendar, supplies, the copier/printer, committee
chairpersons, directory information, what will be happening at Chalice
this weekend, and more. There is always someone to get to know, and
something to do.
Music Director: Tim McKnight
Tim McKnight hails from the rural Midwest, but relocated to San Diego in
July 2004. One month later, Chalice UU Congregation hired Tim as Music
Director, a position he has held ever since. Tim received both his
Bachelors Degree in Music Education as well as his Masters Degree in
Accompanying and Vocal Coaching from the University of Illinois @
Urbana-Champaign. In addition to his music ministry at Chalice, Tim
teaches a studio of over 20 private piano and voice students. He also
is a professional accompanist, collaborating with both vocalists and
instrumentalists for recitals, auditions, college juries, competitions,
etc. Tim has served as musical director, conductor, vocal coach and
pianist for both opera and musical theater productions in Illinois and
throughout San Diego County. In June 2012, Tim will be conducting a
special performance of UU Composer Jason Shelton's "Sources: A Unitarian
Universalist Cantata" with over 100 singers and instrumentalists from
all of the UU congregations in San Diego County.
Religious Education Coordinator: Jackie Austin-Singer
Jackie has been the RE Coordinator at Chalice for over four years. A credentialed teacher in California and mother of two, Jackie has also attended UUA Rennaissance Modules for Religious Educators. Jackie is also an accomplished singer and songwriter. |
